My Favourite Walking Quotes

After my post yesterday where I shared the daily mall walking habit of 103 year old Mekey Yetashawork I’ve been inspired to dig out some of my favourite quotes about walking. Here we go…

Walking in the mountains of Paphos, Cyprus

  • After a day’s walk everything has twice its usual value. ~George Macauley Trevelyan
  • If you are seeking creative ideas, go out walking. Angels whisper to a man when he goes for a walk. ~Raymond Inmon
  • A vigorous five-mile walk will do more good for an unhappy but otherwise healthy adult than all the medicine and psychology in the world. ~Paul Dudley White
  • In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks. ~John Muir
  • The best remedy for a short temper is a long walk. ~Jacqueline Schiff

Now shall I walk
or shall I ride?
“Ride,” Pleasure said:
“Walk,” Joy replied.

Ohhh, I love a good walk, and I have been missing them since I got an ankle injury from running several months ago, alas! But spring will soon be here and I’ll (hopefully) be healed, and I’ll enjoy walking again! Thanks for this post, I just love the quotes. I’m going to share it.

Thanks Amy – must be so frustrating waiting for the ankle to heal… I just feel SO much better both mentally and physically after a day outdoors. Can’t get enough of it! :-)

We had baby goats today, While I was outside, I decided to take a walk around the yard.

I definitely agree with the ‘short temper remedy’ one as I’ve found that it’s impossible to walk briskly and remain grumpy!
