7 Random Facts About Me

Just for a bit of fun for today’s post – I thought I’d list 7 random facts about me. I hope you’ll share a few of your own in the comments. Just for fun

Here we go…If I get arrested afterwards will you all vouch for me…?

1. I never wear black. Don’t get the obsession – it’s such a draining colour! What’s wrong with charcoal, aubergine, olive or chocolate? Still hides those naughty excess pounds but much more flattering.

2. I once took the controls of a jumbo jet in the air. I loved it, passengers noticeably queasy. Told you I’d get arrested.

3. I love pastry. Cornish pasties, pork pies, sweet pastries, doughnuts…really must stop…

4. I don’t watch TV – not a big reveal I know but it is rare! Not that I’m against the box – I’ve just got too many other things I’d rather do instead!

5. I really love hiking. Funnily enough I love driving too which may seem odd! I’ve driven over a lot of UK and France on my lonesome. Now that’s a story for another day…

6. I have 3 kids (I say kids, they’re all taller…and smarter…than me)

7. I have moved house (and area) so many times that I’m told I now have a hotchpotch of an accent. Have a listen for yourself…(recorded May 2012)

I love lists like this; and you’re so right about accents and imagining how people sound. I think I probably sound a bit like you having also moved around so much. Here are 3 random facts about me: 1. I’ve lived in 9 countries, have 2 passports, born in a 3rd place but have no “home town”. 2. I spent a summer working in a fish factory in Iceland. 3. I’ve taken the train from Hanoi to Helsinki.

What a fun and creative post! Now I’m going to have to come up with a “7 Things” post myself, I think. The voice recording was a cute touch, too. It’s fun to hear your voice and you have a very lovely, unique accent to me. Here are a couple of things about me you don’t know: 1. I used to be a competitive runner, and ran a quarter mile in less than a minute. 2. I’m a musician and play the piano, the flute, and the banjo, and 3. I love, love, and long for the ocean. Probably a side-effect of growing up in Nebraska, U.S.A., so far from any ocean!

I understand now why you *sigh* over my Mediterranean island pics as they nearly always have the sea in them With the voice recording – it’s always hard I think to listen to your own voice – you never can quite believe it’s you! Great post. I have 3 kids too – all taller then me and all adopted. I am a walker. I design knitting patterns. I lived in London for 2 years many years ago. I love poetry by Dylan Thomas and Gerard Manly Hopkins.

1. Living mostly in Sicily in Cefalù and a bit in UK 2. Used to have a ‘proper’ job. Now I’m free to do odds and sods jobs – one of which is a walking holiday leader. 3. 1 daughter, 1 husband, 2 cats (the latter 3 are all Italian)

4) I am a bit of a linguist, and try to pick up a bit of conversational language whenever I visit a new country;

1) I spent my honeymoon at Gleneagles Hotel Torquay whose proprietor at that time was a man called Mr Sinclair who John Cleese based his Basil Fawlty character. 2) I once sat next to Jenny Agutter on a TWA flight to Los Angeles in the late 1980′s. Also sat next to Joan Rivers late husband (not quite good enough for 3). 3) I am named in the Guiness Book of Records as one member of “The Rock Choir” who broke the world record this year for the greatest number of people performing a song simultaneously. That’s all folks!
